Song of Erne was bred at Ashbrooke sold to England where he won Working Hunter of the Year at the Horse of the Year Show.

Wings of the Morning was sired by a Chipperfield’s circus stallion called The Padisha who was given to the Brooke’s because he wouldn’t stand still when tied up. A grey mare, she was so beautiful spectators would cross the show ground to watch her jump.

One of two rooms at the end of a long corridor, Kestrel is the old nursery where generations of Brookes were raised. A beautiful Vietnamese wall hanging dominates the bright and cheerful room, and a vastly spacious
en-suite bathroom is brilliant for families.

Kestrel was Christopher Brooke’s beloved childhood pony who he rode at the National Schools and Pony Club Jumping Championships at Hickstead.

At the end of the long, upstairs corridor, Kestrel is an elegant bedroom with super-king double or twin beds and soothing blue/grey walls. A huge
en-suite bathroom has a roll-top bath and enormous walk-in shower with two separate sinks. Olive Oyl and Kestrel can be separated from the rest of the house by a door on the landing.

Beautiful French Toile de Jouy curtains bring a touch of blue to this soothing bedroom. Exquisite needlework panels on the walls were made by Christopher’s grandmother in nearby Galgorm Castle. Star Light, on the first floor, shares an upstairs shower room and a downstairs bathroom with large bath.

Star Light was a three-day eventer who was placed at the Army Horse trials at Tidworth in Hampshire ridden by Juliana Grose (née Brooke).

A pretty room with a view over the private garden and mature beech trees. Winter’s Tale has a traditional washbasin in a cupboard and shares a shower room with loo and sink upstairs, and a spacious bathroom with bath downstairs.
