NO STAY AT ASHBROOKE IS EVER AS OUR GUESTS EXPECT – INVARIABLY, IT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

Explore the diversity of the estate while enjoying a country sport or join us for a painting course and discover something about yourself. You can bring your own horse or dog to truly immerse yourself in our way of life.

The parkland is home to hundreds of native species – badgers, otters, red squirrels and kingfishers. Majestic Japanese Sika deer, introduced by Sir Victor Brooke in the late 19th century, graze serenely amongst sheep, cattle and indigenous red deer. The Brookes have a strong connection with the land and the family remains dedicated to sharing their knowledge of the estate and its surroundings.

“Amanda and the team were incredibly attentive, professional, and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our stay was perfect, from recommending local suppliers and activities to meeting the beautiful horses at Ashbrooke. Their love for the house is clear and they make you feel like part of the family.”

~ LAURA AND COLM ~

We had autumn colour, sunshine and showers, the games room and hot tub filled many fun hours
We walked to the standing stone, cycled the lanes, followed a treasure hunt, dodged the brief rains
We spent a quiet evening with this and with that, a quiz, a game, or just laughter and chat
After shooting clay pigeons, we’d a Halloween ‘do’, with ghosties and ghoulies, and dressing up, too
Then time to go off to our own homes apace, with thanks to the Brookes for this wonderful place.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS FOR BIODIVERSITY

In 2013, two dozen scientists met at Colebrooke Park in the grounds of Ashbrooke and, in 24 hours, sampled over a thousand different species – a tally that saw the park crowned all-Ireland champions for biodiversity. With its grasslands, forestry, bogs, watercourses and lakes, the park is a beautifully managed yet authentic showcase of the natural world. Rare, single-species trees proliferate. The precious peat bogs on the estate contain millions of ancient bacteria, providing a wealth of oxygen and nutrition for the surrounding soil, and storing vast amounts of carbon.
